On crossing paths

I don’t believe in fate. I believe we choose and shape our own paths, and each choice takes us down a different road, one we wouldn’t have walked on if we had chosen differently at the last turn.

Every road not taken gives cosmic birth to a parallel universe. One universe for every single choice. Very often, we find ourselves mentally inhabiting these other universes, thereby losing sight of what’s in front of us in the one we physically inhabit.

And then there are days when the path you choose happens to cross that of another fellow traveller; and you stand still, and hold your breath for a fraction of a second, as you realize that a trillion different choices have led you here.
